ObjectiveThe study examined the prevalence of suicidal ideation and its several risk factors among medical college students in GuangZhou. It also analyzed the psychological traits of medical college students with suicidal ideation and compared the rate of suicidal ideation by different assessment measures.Subjects and MethodsAfter the pre-investigation, interview and revising of questionaires,750 medical college students with the mean age of 20.44±1.66 were evaluated with basic information, Beck Hopelessness Scale(BHS), Dysfunctional Attitudes Scales(DAS), Purpose-in-life Test(PIL), General Self-Efficacy Scale(GSES), Suicide Attitude Questionnaire(QSA).725 questionnaires were effective, and the effective rate was 96.6%.All data were input computer to establish a database using Foxpro6.0 and were analyzed using SPSS11.5 software package. The statistical methods were descriptive statistic, t-test, chi-square test, binary logistic regression, factor analysis and reliability analysis.
