This thesis makes a comparatively complete study on the comparison of the multiple attributes between Chinese and Vietnamese on its semantic categories, type and feature of constructions, word orders and cognitive systems on the basis of the studies of word orders the Chinese and Vietnamese linguists had contributed and the author's own understanding of Vietnamese as a native speaker and of Chinese as a second language learner. By describing, explaining and comparing, this thesis has discovered the differences between Chinese and Vietnamese on their basic word orders of the attribute-core phrases and multiple attributes and the correspondent relations between the constructional auxiliary word "De" in Chinese and the conjunction words in Vietnamese.Although there are a lot of differences between the multiple attributes of Chinese and Vietnamese on their word orders and the function words applied etc., the multiple attributes and the core words of these two languages both follow the distance similarity rule, which is the more obvious of the core word's essential nature of stability and endurableness the attribute could indicates, the closer it would be to the core word. In another word, the distance between the multiple attributes and the core word reflects their semantic distance, which shows the similar cognitive style that Chinese and Vietnamese people share. On the basis of the comparative research of Chinese and Vietnamese word orders of multiply attributes, we give a survey and make an analysis on Vietnamese students' errors of the word orders of multiple attributes in their Chinese study. According to the statistics, the main reason of those errors are found to be Vietnamese students' incomplete understanding of the semantic and grammar law and its cognitive system of the word orders of attribute-core phrases in Chinese and their incomplete knowledge of the differences of the word orders of multiple attributes between Chinese and Vietnamese. Finally, based on the Vietnamese students' errors in learning Chinese multiple attributes and the regularities and causes behind them, we initiate several suggestions for the teaching of multiple attributes in CFL to Vietnamese and hope to offer a little help in this field. |
