On C-E News Translation: From The Perspective Of Rhetoric

The development of globalization has given prominence to internationalcommunication. All countries make every effort in presenting a positive national image tothe world so as to play a positive role in the exchanges of politics, culture, economy, andmilitary affairs. According to Shen Suru, most of the news reports for internationalcommunication are translated into English from Chinese versions, which gives specialimportance to C-E news translation.Plenty researches have been done in C-E news translation on the basis of functionalconcept, which shares similar view with rhetorical theories on the consideration of targetaudience and persuasion. However, none of them has definitely introduced into newstranslation study rhetorical theories that have been widely applied in the Western worldour target audience are so familiar with.In this thesis, the author analyzes the effect of current C-E news translation fromrhetorical perspective, demonstrates its rationality and feasibility from Skopostheorie andoffers some suggestions.
