Imported western modern civilization was susceptible to changes on Chinese soil. As a Chinese intellectual yeanling for national rejuvenation, Laoshe exerted discreet choices when faced with western civilization. Between the two civilizations, he never stopped filtering and choosing. The limitation of the times sometimes inevitably set him in the spiritual dilemma of civilization and morality. The conclusion concludes the influence of Laoshe's native consciousness on his fictions, also points out that he was not only deeply noted in traditional Chinese culture, but also was more or less affected by exotic cultures. However, these influenced from foreign cultures did not make him an Europeanized writer, on the country, they promoted the native and openness of his national consciousness.
