| In her three love autobiographical works : the Dam of Keeping back the Pacific, the Lover and the Lover from North of China, Marguerite Duras shows us different appearances and variable Chinese lover images by writing love stories about a Chinese man and a French girl, and the writer/ the narrator changes the attitude toward to the Chinese lover greatly. This paper tries to explore this three texts in the perspective of the imagology of comparative literature, The conclusion is that, the Chinese lover is an important other image made jointly by Duras in the three texts, the Chinese lover is placed on a main even a core position in the three novels' character system, the Chinese lover shows different images in the three novels which are written in different period, the images describe the Chinese cultural reality in particular history stage. Making the images of the Chinese lover is not simply Duras' individual behavior, but through the social collective imagination—the imagination of the Society and group to which Duras belonged, the images of the Chinese lover loads French society's collective imagination on China. Duras makes the images of the Chinese lover, which is sure to lead to observe and penetrate the nationality she belonged to. When the images of the Chinese lover formed, the self—image of the creative subject has formed too. Moreover, other image is admixture of sensibility and thought. It reflects the Evolution of the writer's self—Cognition when Duras repeatedly reconstruct the image of the Chinese lover. |
