Quantifiers is one of the characteristics of Chinese. Its main part is noun classifiers.This paper take natural units classifiers as its focus to study noun classifiers of Tang Dynasty on the basis of extensive investigations.In the study, Terms perspective and grammar point are both given the same attention. From the both synchronic and diachronic angle and by a comparison with the development of noun classifiers in Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties, the new development of noun classifiers in Tang Dynasty is shown from four aspects:categories of the Tang Dynasty Noun Classifiers,its newborn members,the new development of the old quantifiers,its characteristics in grammar,etc.Tang Noun Classifiers has the following features:strong production capacity and vitality, mature grammar,prorninent image function.It has important significance in the history of Chinese quantifiers.Basic conclusions is as follows: It is in Tang Dynasty that noun classifiers began to be mature.Quantifiers is an important research topic in contemporary linguistics study. There are still many deficiencies in quantifiers research. In this paper, the research is not confined to the syncronic perspective and vocabulary level, and has mastered a certain amount of new material.I would be happy if I have done a little helpful work for the Chinese quantifiers research.
