Since 1954 people unearthed stone tombs in Yi Nan, there was ever a great upsurge in studies. After that, few of scholars write any monographs on it. At present, the focuses are archaeological research, regional study, and periodical division, which are primary stages. It has not got the level of synthetic study. The writer is trying to explore the general background and main factors of the grave design from the structure to the pictorial art of these tombs.The typical location, historical and cultural elements are important for the emergence of these graves, as well as the advantage of geography, economy, and technology. There are two remarkable characteristics of Yi Nan Tombs. One is the conception of design, which is similar to that of architecture. The second is the ideas of plans. The size of spaces and the arrangement inside are so excellent. The structure and the art skills show originality. The form is in fine order, and the construction is reasonable, and the art techniques are fantastic. The picture organization and the number of pictures are the peak of Han Dynasty. Yi Nan Pictorial Art is the masterpiece of the glories Han.
