The changes of social culture is a unavoidable tendency. With the rapid development of tourism and tourist industry, ethnic tourism plays a more and more important role in the process of the cultural changes of ethnic areas and becomes a most vital factor in promoting the social and cultural changes of ethnic groups. Tourism development has both positive and negative effect on the growing of ethnic areas. It not only pushes forward the village economy of ethnic areas, but also greatly influences the traditional cultures of ethnic villages in direct or indirect way. It has been a topic of general interest in related fields to study the compact of ethnic tourism on social culture and to explore how to realize virtuous changes of ethnic cultures in a modern and open social pattern.In this article, as a case in point, the Qiang Village in Taoping is a typical one in the villages of the Qiang nationality. Since the 1990s, ethnic tourism has been in a special position in the social and cultural changes of Taoping village and has become the most important factor which is affecting its cultural and social changes . After 10 years of tourism development, there have been great changes in the social culture of Taoping village. This article presents and analyses the changes of the social culture of Taoping village in terms of material, systematic and spiritual culture. On the basis of the analysis of this typical case, this article explores the topic on protecting tradition ethnic cultures in the process of developing tourism and realizing continuous development of the ethnic villages.
