Research On Art Character And Cause Of Formation Of Yaozhou Celadon Of Song Dynasty

Ceramic Art is a comprehensive art and a combination of technique and art.In accordance, it should be studied from multi-aspects. Yaozhou celadon of Song dynasty is known as representative of Northern celadon and the champion of Northern celadon cutting because of its elegant, deep, glazy color, sharp and delicate cutting technique and charming figure. Yaozhou celadon is also in an important position of China ceramic history which is hard to exceed because of its unique art style. Using it as an example, we try to deepen its aesthetics origin, discuss the cause of formation of its art style, expound how its color, cutting and figure can be unified perfectly and uncover the theory and essential of its beauty. Analyzing both technical and civil factors, this article emphasizes the study of the cause of formation of its art style. We use the first-hand resources from interviews on the spot as the basis of technical factors, and deduction from relevant literature of civil factors. The study of celadon has its representative meaning as its typicality in China ceramic history.
