Chinese cultural education is a special education about Chinese language and Chinese culture for overseas Chinese. It is highly awarded and supported by Chinese government and the Chinese Communist Party for its special strategic significance, and it becomes a bridge connecting overseas Chinese and their homeland and helps spreading Chinese culture abroad. The teaching of Chinese traditional dance means the activities to teach overseas Chinese the Chinese traditional dance in Chinese cultural education overseas. (In this paper its shorten form is Teaching of Chinese Traditional Dance). As a branch of Chinese cultural education, it plays an important part in impelling the course of Chinese cultural education for its unique value of culture, art and education, and also helps to build closer connection with the folk-custom, social life of overseas Chinese and their career development. This paper summarizes its significance and characteristics, presents analysis in-depth of its current status and puts forward the strategies to solve the problems which existing in its development, striving to advance the teaching of Chinese traditional dance and accelerate the development of the course of Chinese cultural education in the future.This paper consists of four parts.The first part presents in outline the background, the significance, the current status and the method of the research of the paper.Secondly the author summarizes the significance and characteristics of the teaching of Chinese traditional dance. Its characteristics include four parts, such as teaching content, teaching methods, teachers' teaching skills and teaching process. Its significance consists of five aspects of Chinese natural cultural education, social life of overseas Chinese, ethical civilization of the society of overseas Chinese, development of the course of Chinese cultural education and development of the course of Chinese traditional dance.Thirdly the author summarizes the existing problems in the base of the analysis of current status of the teaching of Chinese traditional dance. He discovers and puts forward the problems such as inadequacy of publicizing Chinese cultural education, little attention to this curriculum, uncertainty of teaching system, lack of experience in teaching organization, discontentment of desire to study, confusion of teaching arrangement, improper teaching methods, absence of segments in teaching activities and maladjustment of the teaching to the need of transform of the age mainly at the three aspects of teaching mechanism, teaching object and teaching content.The fourth in the base of summarizing the problems in current status of the teaching of Chinese traditional dance the author brings forward six strategies to solve the problems that we should enhance to publicize Chinese cultural education and transform the teaching concept, considering from the two sides of professional and unprofessional features of the teaching, enriching the form of running a school and making scientific teaching arrangement, reforming the way to get in recruit students overseas, optimizing "teachers, teaching materials and teaching methods", heightening the teaching level and boosting the theoretical research to push the development of the course of Chinese traditional dance.
