The dissertation, based on Feuerbach's Selected Philosophy anthology, Laozi's Notes and Assessment and Zhuangzi's Contemporary Notes and translation, makes an attempt at the comparison between Feuerbach's and Laozi and Zhuangzi's thoughts on the comparable points of atheism. Although Feuerbach and Lao-Zhuang are distant in space and time, their thoughts contain deep atheism. The dissertation will elaborate on atheism from three sections:The first section is about the comparison of Feuerbach's and Lao-Zhuang's theories of nature. First, the definition of nature is elaborately given, and in particular, a detailed explanation of what Lao-Zhuang said about nature is given because what Lao-Zhuang said about nature is different from nature in terms of its modern implication. Second, the idea is expounded that Feuerbach and Lao-Zhuang both had cognition of nature from nature itself. finally, from the thought of the world merging into material, things unceasingly changing and regularity of changing things, an analysis is made of Feuerbach's and Lao-Zhuang's knowledge of nature, namely, a comparison of their separate materialistic views on nature. In a word, Feuerbach's and Lao-Zhuang's theories of nature are the solid foundation of their atheism and the embodiment of their most striking atheism. The second section is about the comparison of Feuerbach's and Lao-Zhuang's theories of man. Firstly, Feuerbach's and Lao-Zhuang's cognition of man is discussed with regards the relationship between man and nature. Feuerbach thought that man is the product of the natural world. Human body with its organs and its brain emanates from the natural world and so does the spirit inside the human brain. However, Lao-Zhuang thought that man is one of myriads of living things and part of the natural world. Second, a separate discussion on Feuerbach's and Lao-Zhuang's cognition of man in terms of the relationship between man and the society is given. Because of his cognition of man as abstract (Marx'and Engels'disparate judgment of Feuerbach), Feuerbach's cognition of the society is empty of content. To negate the then social reality, Lao and Zhuang were negative in their attitudes towards the civilization of the human society, as the result, their cognition of the role of human nature in the social relationship is limited. Last, Feuerbach's and Lao-Zhuang's cognition of man is discussed from the aspect of the relationship between man and self and their cognition of man's spiritual essence and spiritual life is mainly analyzed. Based on Marx's and Engels's thoughts as guidance, Feuerbach and Lao-Zhuang are thought not to have really realized and addressed issues about man, therefore, their thoughts about man makes room for Theism (idealism). The third section of the dissertation makes comparison between Feuerbach's"egotism"and Lao-Zhuang's"self-importance and respect for life"."Egotism"and"self-importance and respect for life"are typical of Feuerbach's and Lao-Zhuang's thoughts. It is due to their inability to correctly address the issues about man that Feuerbach at last get involved in the religious thought of producing love among human beings and Lao-Zhuang in the no-self situation, subsequently, theism predominates. However, their atheism still sparkles under the then social and historical conditions...
