Senior high school students are in the high period of physical growth, yet their psychology development is much slower than their physical growth. This dispanity of their development makes it easy to produce psychological and behavior problems when they are confronted with great changes in environments such as studying, human interaction. Therefore, it has more practical significance to improve the freshmen' school adjustment.However, researches on school adjustment seldom aim at the freshmen of senior high school, no matter overseas or in-country. Intervention researches on school adjustment overseas mainly use the methods of changing environments or providing supports. Although there are some group intervention researches reported in-country, these interventions mainly aim at one part of school adjustment. Therefore, this research plan to investigate the main school maladjustment parts toward the freshmen of the leading senior high school, then to scheme out the intervention project based on the investigation results and correlative psychological theories, finally to proof-test its validity.Method: Questionnaires were used to test 352 freshmen of the leading senior high school in Tai Yuan. Instruments employed included the open questionnaire, the Mental-health Test of Middle School Student and the School Life Adaptation scale of High School Student. Randomly draw out two leading classes as experimental class and control class. The intervention goes on nine weeks, once a week, and eigthteen hours in total. All data gained in this research are handled by soft wares of Spss 11. 0 for Windows and Excel 2003.Conclusion: (1)The major problems on adaptation of the freshmen in leading senior high school in Tai Yuan are the relationship between teachers and students, the adaptation on learning, peer relationship, the adaptation on living and self-acceptance.(2)Its major mental health problems ordered sorting descending is sensitive trend, self-condemned trend, and anxiety for study, anxiety for sociality, impulse trend, physical symptom, horror trend, and solitude trend.(3) The leading class is worse than the ordinary class on self-acceptance.(4)Girls are worse than boys on self-acceptance and relationship with teachers. But boys are worse than girls on peer relationship.(5)Students in residence are worse than students who not on group adaptation.(6)Students who feel poor in the family economy condition are worse than students who not on self-acceptance.(7)Registration marks are correlated to the dimensionality of peer relationship only. There are more high registration marks; there is worse peer relationship.(8)The intervention scheme in this research do can improve learning adaptation, relationship with teacher and group adaptation of the freshmen in the leading senior high school distinctly. And it can improve their impulse trend and school work marks also. The intervention scheme in this research is effectual on school adjustment to the freshmen in the leading senior high school.
