Today, commercial illustration,which is common in foreign markets, is recov-ering comprehensively and has already been all-around from children's books, comics, cartoons, books, toys, computer games to fashion, advertising, design, broadcasting media and the Internet. In recent years, illustration has become increasingly popular, even more favorable than photos in many circumstances, and has returned to the vis-ual information media again, shining brilliantly. Now advertising, fashion, music, de-sign and publishing industry are seeking for personalized, warming, abstract and decorative illustrations to represent their products and brands. A variety of mainstream or non-mainstream elements have been quoted by business and quickly added to commercial production and sales, realizing perfect combination of commerce and art.Under the influence of global creative industry, the new generation of illustrators are becoming founders of their own brands. They broaden the scope of application of traditional illustrations through networks and new media. The combination of busi-ness and art become new consumption power and graffiti artists, illustrators, comic writer are playing an increasingly important role in the shaping of brand culture.In this paper, the author firstly describes in detail the concept and forms of com-mercial illustration through analyzing the basic principles of commercial illustration. Secondly the author analyses some cultural phenomena guided by popular elements of commercial illustration and analyses, from the point of view of creative industry, that in what form should commercial illustration been applied to market environment. Af-ter listing some successful cases of applying commercial illustration to brand shaping, the author discusses how to develop commercial illustration better in the field of commerce.
