As a branch of well-known Graphic Art Design, illustration experienced a "boom"after the end of the19th century to the1940s, ushers in prosperity and development today.Now, mainly with the ever-expanding digital application technology, commercialillustraton has a leap in development, no matter in form or content. In fact, from a socialeconomy point of view, as a special symbol into the popular culture industry, commercialillustration has gradually become a culture of consumption and an important feature ofmodern popular culture industry.This paper is divided into five chapters: in the first chapter, analysis currentdevelopment at home and abroad of commercial illustration, and the content and target ofthis paper; The second chapter, introducing basic concepts of commercial illustration andthe development history of different stages in China and the west; The third chapter,analysis how commercial illustration intervenes in popular culture industry and becomesan important part of it; In the fourth chapter: Illustrate the commercial illustration inpopular culture industry development and application, including the Graffiti art, Albumcover and CG application; The fifth chapter, detail commercial illustration and creativemarket interactivity, and to extend the important influence of commercial illustration tocreative brands in market economy conditions.Currently, many people in design are talking about fashion, trend and relevantconcepts of popular culture industry. In fact, as an important part of popular cultureindustry, and subordinating to the cultural creative industry, commercial illustrationcomplies with a set of its own operating rules. In this paper, we want to find tacitintersection between popular culture industry and commercial illustration, and aim tomake the majority consumer groups look at commercial illustration in new theoreticalperspectives and rigorous attitude, thus to guide the practice of illustration art activities.
