Complements of direction is one of the emphases in Chinese grammar. It is one of the difficulties in foreign students studying Chinese. And the corresponding form between Chinese and other languages is complex. Because of all kinds of factors such as the textbook,the teaching and the learner, there are numerous errors in the course of students studying complements of direction. I have a research on students studying complements of direction by questionnaire.Generally speaking, the simple complements of direction are considered to be simpler than compound complements of direction, so students learn quickly. But from the test is not the case. Whether the object of the premises, or non-premises, students acquisition on simple complements of direction is relatively high error rate. Moreover, with higher grades, but a higher error rate.We believe that the teaching environment in the acquisition process into the stable phase, there will be some repeatedly. In general , along with the grade levels and raise the level of Chinese language, and continually reduce the error rate, when students learn the compound complements of direction.The errors in students studying complements of direction is divided into three kinds: the error in sentence structure; the error in sentence meaning and missing complements of direction. Structure error is divided into four kinds: the place error of the simple complements of direction and the objective; the place error of the compound complements of direction and the objective; Meaning error is also divided into four kinds: the error of direction; the missing and misusing of complements of direction; the compound using of simple complements of direction and compound complements of direction.The reasons of the errors are complex. Universal grammar, language transfer theory, the different level of cognitive, language learning, teaching strategies and so on are discussed.Finally, according to the the analysis of research on students studying complements of direction, this paper will give some suggestions on textbooks and classroom teaching related the complements of direction.
