Complements have taken an important role in Chinese grammar. As the most frequently used complements, complements of direction is one of difficulties in foreign students studying Chinese. On one side, the corresponding forms between Chinese and other languages are complex while complements of direction in Chinese have varied-structure and complex-content; on the other side, there still need some improvements in the textbook and the teaching. In order to help foreign students learning complements of direction and further complete the teaching system, I take error analysis on complements of direction to locate difficulties and analysis the causes.Based on the Acquisition theory, Error Analysis theory and statistics of students' compositions, I analysis four types of errors and their causes as well as the correct samples and their causes. Both sides will provide me efficient guide in solutions to solving and predicting students' errors.At the same time, I analysis and compare the samples from students in elementary level and middle and high level to find out different factors, which affect students' acquisition of complements of direction in different levels, and the order of students' acquisition of complements of direction. And then with the above-mentioned research on error analysis and order of acquisition I compare and examine some textbooks' introductions to complements of direction. Finally, I conclude some suggestions in teaching and textbooks.
