Christianity as a world religion have had a greater impact in the course of its spread around the world.In history,Christianity has made activities in Shandong in the progress of its Four- large-scales introducted to China. In Tang Dynasty, Nestorians has had believers.Before the decline of Song Dynasty, Christians have emerged in southern China. Tarsa in Yuan Dynasty has probably been spread in Shandong with early believers.In the last stage of Ming Dynasty and early stage of Qing Dynasty, Jesuit and Francis as branches of Christianity was spreaded to China.Many Residents in Shandong began to be influenced by Western religious.Between Kangxi and Qianlong Years,the government prohibited the spread of Christianity and missionary activity was hit.In the 19th century 60s, a large number of Catholic missionaries began to enter Shandong and established churches. They had fully awared of the importance of Shandong.So Shandong,as a"Sacred Province of China",where must be overcome before Christian opened the Chinese market. Protestant has made a greater extent and impact in a shorter time.As a foreign religious, Chinese people's attitude and acceptability to Christianity are not the same in different regions. In nationwide,it was better in southen than in northern,and in Shandong,it was better in eastern than in western.Before Opium War,there was no contrast of the regional differences because few of missionaries made activities in the eastern of Shandong.After 1840s, with the signing of unequal treaties and opening of the treaty ports, Protestant missionaries began to enter the coastal areas, Chinese people's attitude and acceptability to Christianity has been changed. In general, it was more positive and enlightened in eastern than in western; From the view of impact, it was lager and more useful in eastern than in western; From the view of effect,it was better in eastern than in western,too. It could be reflected by the distribution of Church cases,schools and Charitable organizations,and so on.Church cases,which was throughout the entire modern history of China, was influential on the modern history of China's.Shandong,as the main area, the frequency of Church cases were happened more and more in western than in eastern, whether the occurrence of lesson plans, or the establishment of modern education, health care, charitable organizations,the two areas had diffrences on quantity and degree.It was caused by the different attitude and acceptability of Chinese people to Christianity.The regional differences were caused by a lot of factors,such as cultural conflict and political factors. Specifically, Confucian culture had different effct in different regions, the western of Shandong, especially the Southwestern, where in the ancient Confucian culture were developed and also was the birthplace of Confucianism, so their feelings and sense of Guardian for Confucian culture would be particularly obvious and natural in response to the conflict of Confucian culture and Christian culture;The two aeras had differences in nature, economics and culture,in western, natural disasters and man-made disasters always happened,the gradually decline of Grand Canal and their favorite of kung fu; Protestant are more easily adapt to Shandong society than Catholic,and on enrolling followers,Protestant are more strict and caution. On missionary approach, Protestant Christianity more easily accepted by Chinese people.Besides, on the society organizational structure, geographical distribution of the feudal gentry,and civil forces were also important reasons for this difference. These differences made the eastern and western regions, whether at the level of economic development, science and technology level, or many other aspects of training, had a great difference ,which caused uneven development in the two areas.
