| After taking a panoramic view of the recent 20 years' officialdom novels, we find few characters of secretaries in the previous texts,and also we find no works in which the characters of secretaries are the chief characters in narrating.As for these images of secretaries,they are simple,easily understood and conceptual.This phenomenon got changed in this century,and the works in which the characters of secretaries were the subjects appeared.The narrating about the characters of secretaries advances with times and brings the generalized characters of secretaries into the characters in the novels.We can also pack and classify the characters of secretaries according to the latest theories about the secretary.Judging from the techniques to represent the characters,on the one hand,some novels are standardized through the major characters and minor characters by centering on the characters of secretaries,then portray their characters and reveal their fates;on the other hand, some other novels portray the characters of secretaries from the flank by making the leaders the centers to be described,and the characters of secretaries as either to serve as a contrast or a provider of the clues.There are also some novels that classify the characters into the flat characters and round characters by either weakening the characters of secretaries or intensifying them.Furthermore,some unique characteristics among those characters of secretaries that differ from the other officialdom characters in the officialdom novels appear,that is the duality of the personality.This duality is integrated in the characters of secretaries due to the reality and mainly shown in such three aspects as individual characteristic,social status and love.The fates of those characters of secretaries display a variety in which there are two points that we can't avoid:the one is the factors of tragedy,the other is the perplexity of the "infernal affairs" in the choices of the fates.
