Liu Tianhua (1895—1932) whose name was Shouchun was from the city of Jianyin, Jiansu province. He was Chinese traditional musical instrument composer, instrumentalist and educators. He was Chinese national musical instrument reformer as well. In this paper, the writer discussed Liu Tianhua teaching theory and teaching practice in order to deal with the main ideology of Liu Tianhua's teaching theory from four different point of view as the basic idea of teaching theory, the reform and contribution of teaching practice, teaching theory and teaching achievement, the revelation of the theory and achievement. This paper not only enlightens Liu Tianhua's teaching achievement and the important palace in the history, but also reveals the significance for the present age. Divided into four parts, this paper was applied four methods as analysis, research and contrast in order to analysis Liu Tianhua's teaching theory and teaching practice.The first chapter introduces the basic idea of Liu Tianhua's teaching theory. After the collection of teaching theory, the paper reveal some key factors of Liu Tianhua's teaching theory as concept of music, viewpoint of music education and the thought power of "improvement traditional Chinese music". The second chapter introduces the reform and contribution of Liu Tianhua's teaching. From the aspect of Liu Tianhua's contribution of music instrument reform, the reform and the contribution of play method, the reform and the contribution of music book remember, and the text compilation of two-stringed Chinese fiddle, this part analysis's the reform and contribution of Liu Tianhua's teaching. The third part introduces the Liu Tianhua's teaching theory and the achievement of teaching practice from the aspects of Liu Tianhua's two-stringed Chinese fiddle school, that two-stringed Chinese fiddle become professional teaching music instrument, and that two-stringed Chinese fiddle become worldwide music instrument.The last part introduces the Liu Tianhua's teaching theory and the revelation of teaching practice's achievement. To induct the education of erhu, we can from some aspects to analysis which are about explore about the building up the philosophy and education view, of music, which are value popularity and education of music, innovate and construct more scientific teaching material but should base on the trandition, and bring up excellent musical talent.
