School song is not only the musical signal of a school or a college, but also an important section of musical culture in campuses and society. It is a valuable topic in the field of musical sociology and music-communication that the theoritical function of the school song and the way it plays.In china PR, there are just some technique analysis to special cases, sketchy summaries of the function or simple classification to the school song in Most of the former related research.In this dissertation, the author does a research on the chinese school song on the stand of music-sociology and music-communication, discuss the school songs'theoritical characteristics, function categories and communication features.As a special kind of song, the special theorical characteristics of school song will be expounded correctly only after ascertaining its concept and investigating its history. The author brings up a hypothesis that is called"5-layers of school songs'function". Afterward, combining this hypothesis and the information theory, the author does an analysis to the elements which relate to the school songs'communication result and cultural functions from three aspects: original, receival and circulation. Furthermore, the author provides some concrete tactics to the communication of school song.Finally, the author attempts to research some divisional topics about the school song, which perhaps need more thorough discussions in future.
