A Preliminary Study On Youth Health Risk Behavior Of Middle School Students From Family Support And Family Control

Health risk behaviors mearns those behaviors which directly or potentially compromise to human health and safety and may lead to negative consequences. Middle school students are at puberty and they are facing many changes in their bady and mentality.So, they are easy to be infected with smoking, drinking,fighting and many other health risk behaviors.These behaviors will also have negative effect on their physical and mental health; therefore bring about a potential danger for the whole human-being development. Family support and family control are useful method to reduce the reportrate of those behaviors, but few researches on family support and family control on middle school students.Firstly, we modifyed a research instruments with well validity and then use it to analyse the characteristic of family support and family control.Second, we investigated the present situation of middle school students'health risk behaviors.Finaly, and we discussed the relationship between family support, family control and middle school students'health risk behaviors.The main result of the study is as follows:First, middle students got more family support than family control and boys got fewer than girls. Most family supports grow higher with grade, except material support.But family control is in contrast with family support.The better relationship with their parents the more family support they will get.Second, the character of health risk behavior of middle school students. There is an obvious differences in middle students'smoking,drinking,overusing the internet and intentional/unintentional injuries according to the grade,and gender. There is an obvious connection among all kinds of health risk behavior of middle school students. It involves the "dense growth" of the dangerous behavior, namely, one behavior could make teenagers attend another.Three, the relation between family support and health risk behavior is: family supports have a high degree of negative correlation with most health risk behaviors,. Mental control has a high degree of positive correlation with suicide.From the above, we used many different methods to dicuss the charactors of family support and family control, and made innovative exploration about their effects on middle school students'health risk behaviors.
