ObjectivesThe central aim of this article is to investigate the job-hunting stress after developing a questionnaire of employment stress for medical students.the situation of job-hunting stress and its coping style,the relationship among job-hunting stress, coping style and emotional status of students in medical university by questionnaire, and provide reference for employment guidance and psychological counseling.MethodsThe method of this survey is mainly questionnaire.The questionnaires,including Job-Hunting Stress of Medical Students,Coping Styles Inventory,State-Trait Anxiety Inventory,were employed to investigate college students in Shenyang.Factor analysis was used to explore medical students'job-hunting stressor T test and ANOVA test was used to analyze the situation of job-hunting stress,coping styles and emotional status and the correlation analysis and stepwise multiple regression models were employed to find out the relationship among job-hunting stress,coping styles and emotional status.ResultsThe results indicated that:(1) The job-hunting stressor of medical students come from six factors,including social condition,the impact of school,family support, personal qualities,professional supply and demand,job requirements,career guidance of university,among which,social condition is the main stressor.(2)Job-hunting stress, its coping style and emotional status are significantly different between different college students' communities.(3) Job-hunting stress and its different aspects exert negative impacts on emotional status.Job-hunting stress is positively associated with negative coping style,and negatively correlated with aggressive coping style.Negative coping style exert negative impacts on emotional status,aggressive coping style exert aggressive impacts on emotional status.(4)Emotional status can be predicted quite well by job-hunting stress and its coping style.Conclusions:The level of job-hunting stress of medical students is moderate,Job-hunting stress is associated with coping style and emotional status,Adopting active coping style will help to reduce job-hunting stress and improve emotional status.
