Taking occupation selection value and occupation selection efficiency as two indicators, the author studied on the occupation selection mentality of higher vocational school students and general high education students through evaluating their differences in educational background, self-evaluation, grade and gender between the two indicators, and the conclusions are: firstly, there exist difference in occupation selection efficiency between different grades and genders, and the occupation selection efficiency of male and freshmen students are higher than female students and graduates; secondly, there exist difference in occupation selection value between different genders and grades, and the occupation selection cognition and behavior of male students are better than female students, and occupation selection influencing factors have less impact on male students than female students; freshmen students are more optimistic than graduates, and graduates are more reasonable and practical than freshmen; thirdly, there also exist difference in occupation selection efficiency and occupation selection value between different schools, and general higher education students'occupation selection value and efficiency are better than higher vocational school students. Further analysis and study show that, there exist mutual influences between occupation selection efficiency and occupation selection value. According to the conclusions, relative support and help can be given to higher vocational school students and general higher education students.
