Social intercourse is an important part of daily life, and social anxiety which brings dicomfort is common in everyday social interaction. The individual feels nervous,anxiety and even fear, when he takes part in social situations,and he is always to take evasive actions to deal with social situations. Many domestic and overseas studies have shown that social anxiety will greatly affect the individual's job function and quality of life. As college students is a special group which is in the transition from the "school people" to "social man", the social anxiety study of this group has important practical significance. This study combined self-esteem and attribution theory, explore the characteristics of college students' social anxiety from the perspective of attribution.The results are as follows:1. Remarkable difference exists in social anxiety between student cadres and those who are not. Levels of social anxiety from freshman to senior shows a clear downward trend.2. Levels of self-esteem increase with the grade .Other variables don't show significant effect in the self-esteem.3. In interpersonal attribution,college students is tend to internal control, pay more attention on the effort-factor.Different groups of students have different characteristics. Among them,students who come from urban have significant external attribution; male students compared to female students, juniors compared to the lower-grade students have significant internal control orientation,especially when they deal with failure situations; science students compared to liberal art students have significant internal attribution; singleton students compared to not singleton students, not cadres compared to cadres have very significant internal attribution, especially in situations when the response to the success.4 . There significant correlation among social anxiety,self-esteem and interpersonal attribution. Among them, between social anxiety and self-esteem, there was a significant positive correlation, low self-esteem students is very differert from the high-esteem student in situational attribution and external attribution to failure.student who has higher social anxiety,will more trend to attribute the success of social intercourse to external factors,and attribute the failure of social intercourse to stable or external factors. The link between individual self-esteem and attribution style will be more closely when the person is dealing with frustration..5. Self-esteem, external attributio to failures and the experiences of being student cadres can be used to predict the level of social anxiety of college students.
