In this thesis, we discuss"V zhe A"(V着A), a pattern in Mandarin, which hasn't been discussed much by other scholars before. The aim of this paper is to analyze the grammatical function of the structure and probe into its generation in detail. Besides the introduction and summary, this paper includes six parts.Chapter One is the preface of the paper. It instructs the purpose and significance of our paper. Also, we conclude a comprehensive analyze which abstracts from some linguists and their works. This part will definitely lead us to a better understanding of the latter.The second chapter analyzes the structural feature and semantic type of"V zhe A". In"V zhe A", there's only one structural relation between V and A, and, A is the core of the pattern. However, according to the different semantic direction of adjectives, it can be divided into three types.The third chapter discusses the syntax and semantic features of adjectives and verbs in"V zhe A"pattern. First, we investigates verbs from two angles, which are semantic and valence. Second, we analyze the syntactic features of adjectives, then from each of the three types of semantic, we indicate the basis of the the choice of adjectives.Based on the previous chapters, in Chapter Four, the meaning and function of"zhe"in"V zhe A"is our target.The fifth chapter firstly analyzes pragmatic features of"V zhe A". Then we analyze that how this pattern generated and point out that topicalization results the pattern of"V zhe A".Chapter Six is the conclusion. We hope our research could do some good for the further research.
