Alongside the reform and opening-up policy, achievements china has made in economic construction becomes the focus of world attention. Being the third largest economy in the world, China also witnesses the astounding progress in the development of foreign trade. However, with a five- thousand- year's long history and rich cultural deposits, China, one of The Four Great Ancient Civilizations, is not fully up to expectations in regard to the development of cultural trade. Compared with situations in developed countries, the overall scale of cultural trade in China is still small; in the meanwhile, cultural trade is creating substantial trade deficit among those core cultural products, which is unmatched with the image of China—a great power of culture. As part of international trade, cultural products trade has both economic attributes and cultural ones. Although the proportion it shares in international trade as a whole is not large, it is very important to a country's development and is nowadays attracting more and more attention of international community. Many developed countries even have the cultural industries as a pillar industry for development. Therefore, combing characteristics of cultural trade in China under new circumstance, study on countermeasures towards the development of cultural trade will not only exert great importance on improving international competitiveness of our cultural products but also help to promote the development of international cultural trade. This thesis contains two parts in general: the preface and the main body. Afterwards, this thesis analyzes the advantages of cultural products trade development in China, which can be mainly generalized as: 1. Rich cultural resource. 2. Broad consumer market. 3. Government's emphasis on the development of culture industries and cultural trade. 4. Powerful drive from the transformation of economic growth mode. By contrast, those disadvantages are also listed whereafter, such as outmoded management system asking for the transferring of government's function; lack of effective protection of cultural market; insufficient exploitation and protection of cultural resources, etc. In the meanwhile, smaller scale of cultural enterprise also fails to form advantage. Here comes to the third part of the thesis. Considering the current situation of out cultural industries, this thesis puts forward possible path of development for future cultural products trade in China. Above all, we must adhere to progressive opening-up and provide those key cultural industries with appropriate protections.
