《Records and Maps of XinJiang》is the first official Revised Annals after the Xinjiang Province of Qing dynasty was built, which covers all aspects of the studies of the political, economic, cultural, military and customs and made a comprehensive and systematic interpretation of studying the history of Xinjiang.With regard to historians study Xinjiang history,《Records and Maps of XinJiang》provide a reliable basis,it is a rare reference books. But now the academic study of the book is not enough depth, its comments only focus on its historical value, this book does not pay attention to the role played in other function . In particular, the lack of historical study from the perspective of Historical Documents and the local records study of《Records and Maps of XinJiang》in all-round system. This article is based on previous studies, from the individual perspective of historical document, appling three methods to study the compilers of《Records and Maps of XinJiang》, the compilation process, style, content and the writing process, the relationship between individual records and the total records, the documents value and Historical data value of the systematically analysis, striving to describe the macro and micro aspects of《Records and Maps of XinJiang》, to achieve a comprehensive, systematic and accurate research.This paper is divided into seven chapters: The first chapter is the introduction. The study of《Records and Maps of XinJiang》, the purpose and meanings were elaborated.The second chapter is an overview of local history during the Qing Dynasty. The third chapter is a summary of the total life of Wang Shunan, his essays and academic activities. The fourth chapter is the compilation and release of《Records and Maps of XinJiang》. The fifth chapter is the values of the records of《Records and Maps of XinJiang》. The sixth chapter is the historical values of《Records and Maps of XinJiang》. Because《Records and Maps of XinJiang》was achieved for a short time with little survey,So it has some shortcomings, this last chapter is about a systematic exposition of the problem.
