With the sustained, rapid and sound socioeconomic development, the demand of human resources is diversified. Secondary vocational school is the cradle of medium technical personnel. What the vocational school students learn is mostly related to the vocation which they will engage in. Therefore, teaching ESP in secondary vocational schools can meet some needs of socioeconomic development and students.Considering the specialty of the vocational school the author works at, a detailed study of ESP teaching and ESP learning has been carried out in the field of the course design, ESP teachers, teaching material, teaching methods, students, needs of learning, interest of learning and students'participation in class. The research on the optimization of teaching effectiveness in class is based on the constructionist theory, task-based learning, practical application of team teaching and learner autonomy theory. The development of classroom participation is considered as the starting point of the solution and supposed to motivate students'interest and improve their learning ability. The author considers that ESP teachers should optimize teaching effectiveness by understanding students, playing more roles in class, integrating teaching materials, organizing teaching in class, promoting teaching competence, diversifying the evaluation of learning and teaching.
