Piano lessons are not only one of the absolutely necessary lessons of musical specialty in normal university, but also one of the most important teaching skills the graduates must obtain in their routine work. So piano lessons have always been irreplaceable in the teaching practice of normal university, As we all know that the training goal of musical specialty in normal university is to cultivate musical teachers of primary and middle schools, while as the employment pressure has become a huge burden nowadays, employment demands and directions of musical specialty graduate from normal universities have become lowered and diversified. Compared with graduates of universities attached to Ministry of Education, graduates of local normal universities have to face more difficulties when choosing a job. Many students'employment roles have changed from musical teachers of primary and middle schools to kindergarden teachers and full-time teachers of private art training centers. The change of roles requests the change of piano teaching at the same time, especially that the piano teaching of local normal university are confronted with such characters as poor major basis of students'and less developed local culture and so on. So it is urgent for educators to find a way out how to make piano teaching work compatible with the development and requirement of society nowadays. This paper focuses on the conflict between situation of employment nowadays and piano teaching work of local normal universities by using the experience of other normal universities for reference and combining with writer's own work experience in Jilin Normal University Conservatory of Music. At the same time it also analyzes the present employment status of university graduates, summarizes the present situation of piano teaching of local normal universities and puts forward suggestions for future local normal university piano teaching on diversity of training goals, adaptation of piano teaching content to employment demand, flexibility of piano teaching form and advocating teaching practice etc. Also it tries to summarize a theory guidance that suits the characteristic of local normal universities for piano teaching's better development and adaptation to the social demand in the future.
