With the rise of social informatization level and rapid development of science and technology, information technology has been widely applied to educational field. Many changes in teaching and learning have been brought out by integration information technology and curriculum, like the environment, resources and the means.Classroom teaching is still the key link of schooling. Consequently, the kernel of educational informatization lies in the counterpart of classroom teaching. When it comes to the issue of applying educational technology to classroom teaching, the most popular model is "computer plus projector". This model can present the multimedia materials better, but the lack of mutual response becomes more and more obvious.With the introduction of interactive whiteboard technology, the functions of multimedia computer can be integrated with those of the blackboard. In this way, a classroom teaching environment similar to the traditional chalk-to-blackboard model can be set up, in which teachers do not bother to change their traditional teaching behaviour in form of blackboard plus illustration while the drawbacks of traditional teaching media can be made up for. As for the advantages mentioned above, the interactive whiteboard technology has become the trend of modern classroom teaching media.Researches on the application of interactive whiteboard to the Chinese teaching in the multicultural context have been conducted in this thesis by means of theoretical investigation and empirical studies. Specifically speaking, detailed work and findings of the thesis are as following:To investigate, analyse and compare both of the advantages and disadvantages of various classroom teaching media used presently, which can provide basis for the optimization of classroom teaching informatization.To explore the bonding point and functional applications of the integration of interactive whiteboard and Chinese teaching in the multicultural context in addition to its teaching characteristics, so as to offer references and guides to the Chinese classroom teaching in the multicultural context.To study the differences and regularities of applying interactive whiteboard to Chinese classroom teaching, whether Chinese as a native language or foreign language, by analysis of questionnaires, individual interviews and the instances of classroom teaching, in order to afford references and guides to practitioners and administrators of Chinese teaching in multicultural context.
