Graphic design is not also a basic course for the art design specialty,but also one of the most important basic courses in the system of plane design course. Recently the graphic design course draws more and more attentions from the design specialty teachers and students in many universities. As the concept of graphic design has changed with the development of science and technology, relevant adjustment and reform ought to be carried out in graphic design teaching. From this perspective,many scholars have conducted the research to the theory and the practice achievement of the graphic design teaching. But this research is quite limited and superficial to the whole graph design teaching practice research, teaching innovation means and development,especially the research results of problems in the graphic design teaching. Therefore,the practicality and innovation of the graphic design teaching is very important. This article discusses the practicality and innovation in graphic design teaching from the author's teaching practice in recent years.From the perspective of teaching practice in graphic design course in art design specialty, this article reveals the existing problems in teaching, reconsiders the teaching practice and innovative development of this curriculum, thus initiates the ponder of the colleagues to the graphic design teaching innovation in universities. From the aspects of practice and the theory, this article makes deep discussion and research to graphic design teaching,especially puts forward the author's own viewpoint in the teaching innovation.
