With the rapid development of information industry, the world has become a global village, in which information is shared quickly, conveniently and effciently. Especially in the era of technology, as the technological development prospering every day, competition between nations is intensified. Effective communication among countries has never been more important than ever.News, as cultrual and informaton carrier, is considered to be one of the most powerful informative vehicles in intercultural communication. And obviously the internet becomes more and more significant, the Web journalism English emerges as a prominent source of information. The purpose of this thesis is to dig out an effective way to Web journalism English translation based on the linguistic features of news as well as Nida's equivalence theory.This thesis starts from the introduction to the Web news and its linguistic features, and illustrates the previous studies on the Web journalism English translation. By presenting equivalence theory in detail and the explanation of the meaning in source language and target language, the author demonstrates why this theory is feasible for Web journalism English translation. Based on the abundant and successful translation samples chosen from variuos websites to prove the feasibility of the theory in this translation, the writer provides the practical techniques or skills of how to translate by making use of equivalence theory. Due to news'timeliness, Web journalism English naturally becomes the hot bed for highly expressive neologism; but such new terms and vocabulary will make it difficult for translators to find the exact equivalents. So the suggested approach is to find the closest equivalent according to their meanings while keeping their expressiveness in mind.The thesis is an academic one with specific discussion of Web journalism English for its distinctive features and the translation appoaches based on equivalence theory. The features are both academic and practical, both theorectical and analytical for the purpose that readers can get to know journalism English more deeply. Meanwhile, the Web journalism English translation is supplied with some regulations to follow and play a better function of information exchange.
