Objective:This study explored the effects of assertive training for primary school students' interpersonal relationships, and initially set up a suitable intervention model of assertive training for school counseling as a reference. Methods:This study selected 205th grade primary students by using recruitment and nomination method. There were 10 boys and 10 girls who were divided into experimental group and control group randomly. There were 6 boys and 4 girls in the experimental group and 6 girls 4 boys in the control group. The statistic analysis adopted Oneway Ancova with One Covariate. The researcher used the assertive training courses on experimental group for continuous weekly group counseling, a total of 10 times; Before and after group counseling subjects needed to finish the interpersonal relationship questionnaire and standardized role-play test.Results:1 The test scores of interpersonal relationship questionnaire of the experimental group and the control group did not show significant differences: experimental group, t=-0.793, P> 0.05, control group, t= 0.921, P> 0.05.2 The role-play test results of the experimental group and control group had shown significant progress after the training. (The experimental group t=-7.369, P<0.01; control group, t=-4.865, P<0.01); then covariance analysis showed that the experimental group's progress of assertive reaction was higher than the control group: F (1,17)= 4.983, P<0.05), which shows assertive training effectively improved children's assertive act. 3 By the analysis of covariance, the experimental group's boys'assertive reaction had more significant progress than girls did. F (1,17)= 5.954, P<0.05).Conclusions:1 Assertive training can improve children's self-assurance response, and can help them in understanding the positive connotation of self-recognition.2 Fifth-grade male students can show more assertive response than female students. This may suggest that if we want to make women being more assertiveness on interpersonal relationship we need to provide more training on it because the girls suffered more resistance to gender expectations when they are becoming more assertive.
