The paper sets out to discuss the current situation and future development of contemporary Chinese music education philosophy, which responses to the most fundamental and crucial issue of music education. By studying this field of philosophy, we can gain an important perspective of music education. At the threshold of the 21st Century, Chinese music education has been quite active in studying the philosophy and benefited tremendously from its solid theoretical guidance, from policy formations to specific ideas in music education. The paper summarizes the situation and vision the future development of China's contemporary music education philosophy. First, to define the scope of philosophic study of contemporary music education;second, to summarize and analyze the history and status quo of contemporary music education philosophy; third, taking the second music education curriculum reform as a target, to analyze the ways of transforming theoretic study of music education philosophy to practice. The paper finally draws a conclusion that we music education philosophy study should start from the existing music education phenomenon including those in the history and at present and form our own music education philosophy.
