Study On Silkworm Cocoon And Silk Industrialization Of Anhui Province

Silk, originating from China, has been a monopoly commodity in the world. As an earliest birthplace of cocoon and silk industry, Anhui yields much in this trade. Anhui also has been known as the productive base rich in experience on mulberry cultivation, sericulture, filature, silk weaving and processing. In 1996, due to the influence of the unbalanced demand-supply relation and the impact of Asian financial turmoil, cocoon and silk industry in Anhui fell into its low ebb that the total area of the mulberry field, cocoon output, silk output, industrial output value and the volume of export turned into a big recession. After several years' justification, this industry recovered a bit( in 1998, the total area of mulberry field, cocoon output, silk output, industrial output and export volume of trade rank the fourth, the fifth, the sixth, the sixth and the tenth), though the whole situation is still not so bright. Due to the special status of China's silk production in world trade and the equal special status of Anhui's silk production in China and Anhui's economic development, it has become a big concern of governments and specialists in this trade that what measures should be taken to vitalize this industry.This article, firstly, taking into consideration the characters of the development of cocoon and silk industry and the status in the development of economy in Anhui, analyzes the present condition and the restricting factors of this industry by using the research findings of agriculture industrialization as reference and hence draws the conclusion that it is an inexorable choice and requirement of the law of the development of cocoon and silk industry. Secondly, by analyzing the connotation and basic characters of cocoon and silk industrialization, this article expounds the supporting theory. After the analysis of the form of the organization and the operating organism, I come to the conclusion that this industrialization asks for accelerated cultivation of the cocoon and silkmarket, quickened reform of the system of cocoon and silk industry, and enhanced governmental macro-management. Thirdly, after the analysis of the history of the management system of cocoon and silk industry and of the comparison among this industry of other provinces, I find it unavoidable that cocoon and silk industry in Anhui should be integrated, industrialized and internationalized. Fourthly, from the angle of the influence posed on China after China's entrance of WTO, the article analyzes the opportunities and challenges, and proposes 5 counting strategies accordingly, that is, the strategy of increasing the competitiveness of the export products; the strategy of speeding up the reform of the leading enterprises' system; the strategy of building the image of renowned brands; and the strategy of tapping intelligence resources and all-round preparations.Referring to history and reality, I can correctly analyzes the problems in cocoon and silk industry and solutions as well by using scientific theories and methods. A conclusion could be drawn through the research into theory and reality: industrialization is the only way of developing cocoon and silk industry in Anhui. While the realization of this industrialization demands a) clear target of the development in this trade, b) improving the base of cocoon and silk, c) cultivating and perfecting market systems and building stable and smooth selling channels, d) strengthening the leading enterprises to stimulate other enterprises, e) adopting preferable policies to support the development of this industry, and f) strengthening the macro-management of this industry.
