On Historical Background Of Establishing Sino-US Diplomatic Relations

~STER S TK>I~ Abstract From 1949 when new China was standing up, to 1979 when Sino-US diplomatic relations was setup, Sino-USA relations curved thirty years. From profiling each other in the beginning, to founding diplomatic relations for the mutually beneficial, this article meticulously analyses the results of international relationship: being friend & being opponent according to plenty historical material. The interest converge, the base of the mutually friendship; the conflict of interest, the beginning of the hostile. After the beginning of cold war, international situation come into political construction of: east-Europe socialism camp leading by Soviet Union; imperialism camp leading by USA. Before founding of new China, USA supported Kuomintang and tried in vain to prevent the success of socialist in China. After establishing of the new China, USA allied some states of imperialism camp and adopted the policy of nonrecognition. So chairmen Mao had no choice but to adopt the policy of leaning to one side, forming an alliance with Soviet Union, standing by socialism camp publicly, opposing imperialism. To against with Chinese policy, USA take the policy of encirclement, containment and hostile, stopping expand of socialism in Asia. And then Korean warfare & Taiwan strait crisis were coming into being directed by USA. Victory of Sino-Korean and failure of USA in Korean warfare, indicated the triumph of socialism camp in opposing the containment of the imperialism. Taiwan issue is the results of USA interfering in China抯 internal affairs, vainly attempted to make Taiwan issue globalization, and achieved the goal of splitting China. It抯 the obstacles of Sino-US relations. Chinese government adopted the policy of giving tit for tat, struggling twenty years. China sensed that the more directly threaten wasn抰 USA but Soviet Union. Putting into effect the policy of eased up with US, China could deal with the directly threaten, even for nuclear threaten from Russia more effectively. And then Chinese showed the willing wish to improve the relationship with US. The USA was widely accused by and separated with the international society due to it抯 failure in Korean war and the stand on Taiwan issue. Vietnam war dragged USA into an endless abyss. These failures on Asia issue finally admitted that it could only play a limited role on Asia issue. To survive the USA should keep nuclear balance with Soviet Union, should strengthen in Europe to control Soviet Union, and weaken it抯 role on copping the world. The USA should strengthen in Europe to control Soviet Unions grows and aggression. In Asia, Sino-Soviet confrontation proved socialism camp was not as hard as a stone. The USA must ally China to confront Soviet Unions, so an strong and steady China is accord with American interests, because China could control Soviet Union抯 aggression in south-east Asia, the USA could find a chance out of Vietnam war at the...
