The dissertation (formed jointly by Case and Case Analysis) is the business strategy analysisand position of a Joint Venture (JV) in Guangzhou invested by a famous USA-basedmulti-national energy company (hereafter referred to as the R Company).The Case addressed key issues such as background of China petroleum industry development,domestic market environment, and reviewed the JV's progression in the marketchronologically. In addition, it reveals the JV's current dilemmatic situation with regard tobusiness development in China, the initial heavy investment has not secured an acceptablereturn or even a promising prospect.The Case Analysis, firstly, by using the theory of strategy management, made a PEST modelmacro environment analysis. And then made a Porter Model micro environment analysis.Based on the analysis, the analysis made strategy analysis and position for the differentbusiness units of the R company.In conclusion, different strategies are made for the different business units of the company.
