Study On Urumqi Urban Competitiveness

The 21st century is not only a new era of global competition but also the century of urban development and competition. Cities not only become more important but also the competitiveness between cities become more fury Facing common opportunities and general problems, China's urban governments not only need to understand the key in global times to determine and influence urban competition and development, but also need to be clear about their own positions and situations as well as their advantages and disadvantages. In order to capture the top position, China's cities need to check existed competitive and developmental strategy and need to master the edges and tactics of victory. China's central government urgently need to learn the situation of various cities to formulate and perfect China's region pattern and developmental strategy.This dissertation, on the basis of Urumqi's urban competitiveness, by combining qualitative and quantitative analytic methods and formative and positive analytic methods etc, first fulfills cognition of urban competitiveness and establishes theoretical base of positive analysis, then adopts new AHP method and establishes Urumqi's urban competitiveness system of indices consisted of two classes of the qualitative and the quantitative. The quantitative indexes are mainly from national standard statistics figures and the data assessed by professionals. The figures have been processed standardizedly and quantitatively. Based on which, this dissertation selects 16 cities and evaluates their competitiveness through research of urban competitiveness and comparative analysis of competitiveness between cities. This dissertation draws the outline of main factor to promote urban competitiveness and main structure to uphold urban competitiveness and the character of China's urban competitiveness. Based on this analysis this dissertation discusses the path strategy and developmental model of Urumqi's urban competitiveness. At last this paper puts forward policies suggestion to enhance Urumqi's urban competitiveness.
