Guangzhou Port Machinery Industry Corporation (GPM) has run in the industry of transportation and loading machinery for more than 30 years since it was established in 1968. After developed from a small factory to a large grade-two-enterprise, GPM had been deficit continuously for 7 years because of false policy-making. It has almost been cast aside from monopoly as the loss of its famous assortments. The staff is not in one mind. Last year, GPM got 1.6 hundred million compensation of land, as a result, it should formulate proper strategies to invest effectively in order to make progress again. Now, as one of the strategy-forming team, author tries to compare both the strength and weakness of GPM and its competitor, and study its management of products, as well as the opportunities and threats of the market, so that GPM can have the proper strategic decision.
