At present, the function and position of urban region become more and more important and outstanding. In 21st century, the competitiveness within countries and areas largely depend on the competence between urban regions. Comprehensive urban competitiveness turns naturally to be a common question considered by governors and industrialists and scholars. Yangtze River Delta is one of the areas whose economic and social development level and urbanization level is the highest in our country, so it is very necessary to study the comprehensive urban competitiveness of Yangtze River Delta. However, the present study within the available documents is not enough and deep, the conclusion in which is whether much beyond our audio-visual decision or lack of accurate data and concrete method of calculation and evaluation. On the basis of taking reference from the existed study and combining the reality of the area and the facility of collecting and processing data and the selection of calculation method firstly, this paper selects and constructs a new scientific set of index system judging the comprehensive urban competitiveness, and looks up all the relative data of 2000 according to the index system. Secondly, this paper design and construct a mathematics model, by which the comprehensive urban competitiveness of Yangtze River Delta is calculated and evaluated through the soft ware of SPSS and then gets the scores of each city and each place in the competition. Based on the quantitative analysis, this paper centrals on Suzhou and puts forward the new development strategy of Suzhou in the new round competition through SWOT analysis on Suzhou.
