The Study About The Methodology And Theoretical Basis Of Deng Xiaoping's Establishment Of Socialist Market Economy

The Combination of socialism and market economy is a great innovation to which Deng Xiaoping has made great contributions. Making a breakthrough in the traditional thought of antagonistic relation between socialism and market economy, Deng Xiaoping views socialist construction in China in terms of the whole world and views the nature of socialism in terms of objective laws ultimate goal of social value. Based on the thorough understanding of national conditions in China, he builds Chinese socialism into a big system and analyzes the essential factors in facilitating socialist construction from the perspective of system theory. Market economy has been proved to be a key element in resource distribution. Consequently the theory of building socialist market economy is also necessary in practice. The establishment and perfection of socialist market economy system has been an essential goal in the reformation of Chinese economic system. As a result, the detailed study about the theoretical basis of the establishment of socialist market economy is of particular significance. However, study concerned with this aspect is rather limited. The previous studies on Deng ' s theory of socialist market economy mostly concentrate on the significance, content and the overall features of this theory. Some studies occasionally concerned with the theoretical basis are carried out from the viewpoint that market economy is a kind of means. Breaking away from these limitations, this thesis is to study the methodology and theoretical basis of Deng' s establishment of socialist market economy.This thesis is composed of four parts.Part 1 is to review the traditional methodology. Views on the relation between socialism and market economy by western economists, Writer of classical such as Marx and Engels , traditional socialists and western market socialists are elaborated so as to reveal the different perspectives and methods hold by them. Analysis on these methods is then presented.Part 2 is to present the innovations in Deng' s methodology. Based on the review of traditional methodology in part 1 ,the author points out the innovations in Deng' s methodology, including the entry of constructivism, the application of system theory and the dialectical mode of thinking, etc.Part 3 focuses on the establishment of the new theoretical basis. The realism, originality, broadness and flexibility in Deng' s methodology provide the new perspectives in seeking its theoretical basis. Applying Deng' s methodology in the study of theoretical basis, the author finds out the four theoretical basis of Deng' s establishment of socialist market economy, namely, methodology, the initial stage of socialism, nature of socialism and social openness.Part 4 is the significance of this innovation. This part is developed in terms of the revolution of conceptions, the revolution of economics, the theoretical basis of the establishment of socialist economy system and institutional innovation.
