Sino-U.S. ties, which directly influence the peace, stability and prosperity of the Asian-Pacific region and even the whole world, are among the most important bilateral relations in the 21st century. For both countries, the steady development of bilateral relations is of important strategic significance. Especially for China, to achieve the magnificent aim of building a well-off society in an all-round way, a peaceful international environment should be guaranteed in the 1st 2 decades of the new century, which is regarded as a period of strategic opportunity. China must handle well its diplomatic relations with developed countries, among which Sino-U.S. ties is of the greatest importance. The strategic significance of Sino-U.S. ties is more important than bilateral relations themselves. But in the future decades of years still exists great uncertainty in the Sino-U.S. relations. Among various factors that affect Sino-U.S. relations, there is no denying the fact that ideology is one of the most important. Ideology has influence on Sino-U.S. ties for a long time. Its manifestation varies in different period, so does its degree of influence. The exploration and knowledge about historical orbit and rules of ideology influence upon their bilateral ties is of realistic and instrumental significance for the future development of Sino-U.S. relations. The main task of this dissertation is to research systematically the ideological factors taken as an independent subject here and to put forward corresponding solutions. The main body of this treatise consists of the following 3 parts:The principal aim of the 1st part is to define the connotation of ideology and its application sphere in this treatise. The connotation of ideology in international politics is different from that in philosophy and common politics. It takes state as a research unit and defines ideology from the perspective of diplomacy, ie. it takes national ideology as its basic form of expression and also exhibits intense interactive characteristics among states, besides the common characteristics of ideology. The connotation of ideology in international politics should be understood from 3 levels---state, nation and class. The influence of ideology on diplomatic relations is based upon its common political function. The extent of its influence is based upon how a state confirms and realizes its own realistic national interests. The second part, is the principal part of this treatise, which ascertains details how ideology functions in Sino-U.S. relations in history and current situation, induces the main ideological factors that influence foreign policies of China and America in the past 5 decades and historically compare their status in their respective foreign strategy. The abnormal history of Sino-U.S. ties in the 1st 20 years originates from their twisted foreign-policy-ideology left deviation and anti-America imperialism in China; extreme hostility toward China and anti-communism in U.S. Antagonistic ideology led to their comprehensive confrontation .In the following 30 years, taking the most elementary national interests into consideration, both countries manipulated their foreign polices, overcame huge ideological divergence and normalized bilateral ties. Though subordinate status in their respective foreign strategy, ideology still played an important role in bilateral relations in this period. Behind every stagnation and regression of Sino-U.S. relations, the trace of ideology can be found. Besides the former anti-communism in America, hegemonies is growing into a new ideological factor, which almost transcends national interests and influences America's post-cold war China policy. In China's foreign policy, anti-hegemonies is subordinate to the overall aim of maintaining the world's peace. Though China emphasizes that it won't demarcate by ideology and its anti-hegemonies doesn't take one certain state as a target, but it is no doubt that the hegemonies from America is a profound menace to China's outer security. Hegemonies and anti-h...
