The pattern of the world greatly changed after The Cold War, since the disintegration of the Soviet Union. Some small countries regained autonomy from the Soviet Union. At the same time the other major countries lunched a new round of competition in these areas formerly controlled by the Soviet Union, in order to enhance the international influence. Mongolia was one of them. Russia was busy enough with its own affairs after The Cold War, and was unable to aid Mongolia any more,so Mongolia’s foreign strategy faced with new choices.Then, USA,Japan, Euro Union and India kept a close contact with Mongolia for its rich natural resource and geopolitical value. On one hand, they can deterrence to the superpower of China and Russia, and obtain a favorable position in the competition of political pattern in Northeast Asia. On the other hand, these countries could get mineral resources of Mongolia.Mongolia seized the opportunity to develop a comprehensive political and economic system reform. Diplomatically, Mongolia changed its unilateral policy to "Multi-pivots, equidistance, non-aligned" policy, which means not only develop diplomatic relations with China and Russia, but also with the "Third Neighbor" such as USA, Japan, Euro Union and India. This paper mainly analyzes the adjustment of foreign policy of Mongolia after The Cold War and the influence of this policy adjustment to Sino-Mongolian relation.This paper is divided into three chapters. In chapter Ⅰ, it introduces the background, the content and the evaluation of the adjustment of foreign policy of Mongolia after The Cold War. the 2nd section of chapter Ⅰ introduces the content of the adjustment of foreign policy of Mongolia which is the focus of this chapter.It mainly include 3 points:(a)Seek a balance development between China and Russia.(b)the Third Neighbor"foreign policy. (c)develop multilateral diplomacy. In chapter Ⅱ, it introduces the state of relations between China and Mongolia after the foreign policy adjustment of Mongolia. It mainly expounds the achievements of Sino-Mongolian relation and the negative factors in the development of the Sino-Mongolian relation. Chapter Ⅲ is mainly about the significance of friendly Sino-Mongolian relations to china, and some think on developing the relations.
