Law education occupies a status of vital importance in the process of building China into a country of nomocracy. Starting from a retrospective examination into the origins of China's law education, this thesis reveals the rise and the decline of China's traditional law education in its history of more than two thousand years and delineates especially the establishing process of China's modem law education during the recent one hundred years, thus making clear the venation of the development of China's law education. Furthermore, looking into several significant periods of the history of Western law education, this thesis reveals through comparative studies the different directions of Chinese and Western law education against their different legal culture backgrounds, and traces through analytical studies to the cultural settings required by independent law education. This thesis also attempts to discuss the contemporary law education of China from aspects such as legal culture and legal concepts, especially significant issues concerning contemporary undergraduate law education. Finally, from the point of view of law education, this thesis further attempts to bring forward solutions to the related problems, in its effort to help reconstruct China's law education systems and accelerate the process of helping Chian's law and law education achieve specialty and independence.
