Developments Of Management Consulting In China For A Period From China's Opening-up And Reform To Present

This paper is a stage achievement of an on-going project (No.79970112) charged by Dr. Kang Zhao and funded by the Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), which attempts to investigate the development of management consulting for a period from China's opening-up and reform to present with a theoretical perspective of New Institutional Economics. It starts from building up the framework of supply and demand of institutional arrangement, further, defines the conception of management consulting, clarifies the activities of management consulting and briefly reviews the retrospect of the developments of management consulting. On this basis, the author analyses the development of the Chinese management consulting based on the framework of supply and demand of institutional arrangement, which testifies the theory that "The willingness and ability to offer the new arrangement of institution by political rules decides the satisfaction of a new arrangement of institution.", and finds that the willingness and the ability has an important effect on the level of being used of the arrangement of institution and that institutional arrangement regulating the industry decides in a great degree the level of this industry. Therefore, the author summarizes the types of insufficient supply of institutional arrangement regulating the industry, further analyses the impact on the industry from the insufficient supply of institutional arrangement, and accordingly makes some suggestions on the supply of institutional arrangement for reference for the government in regulating and developing the industry .
