The conceptions of the commercial housing estate, which this paper focuses on, compose the critical element of architecture programming. The purpose of this paper is to make some basic research for the establishment of the estate programming theory. The paper consists of the following contents. The researcher reviews the history of the conceptions of the commercial housing estate, from the side of practice and theory respectively. The conceptions are concluded into six types and their characters are explained with cases, then the functions of the conceptions are analyzed. As the result of the exploration of the produce course of the conceptions, the paper gives out the process of conception programming and the methods of conception design. The researcher also studies the supporting systems of the conceptions. The study indicates three critical stages in the process of conception realization, which are planning and design, property management and usage. The researcher summarizes the changes in the extension of planning and design, idea, ploy, and the application of new technique. In the end, the researcher forecasts the trends of the conception under the background of the development of the residence industry. To expound and prove the conclusions, the method of integrating theories with practice is used through the whole paper.
