A Study On The Development Of Lanzhou-Xining Urban Region

Under the background of economic globalization and information, urban system is tending to be open gradually, and the control and influence of city have gone out of the country's territory. Regional economy is so increasingly involving into the world economic system that it makes the contemporary regional economy connection appear more and more complex, at the same time, it also provides a new idea to study the spatial organization of urban economic region.Lanzhou and Xining, which are similar to each other in the terrain and the development condition, have the shortest distances between capital cities in the western region and the most consanguineous economic connection. The Yellow River valley and the Huangshui River valley, which are abundant in energy and mine, are the most perfect, developed and prosperous area in Gansu province and Qinghai province, also the heavy industry and multinational area. Xining city, Haidong region of Qinghai province, Linxia Hui Autonomous region, Lanzhou and Baiyin cities of Gansu province, the study region of this thesis, are in the valley. The main purpose of the study is how to further connect Lanzhou and Xining and other cities, improve the present conditions of the circumjacent region and the two provinces.In this thesis, there are eight parts:At the beginning, the author introduces simply the research background and meaning, ongoing interrelated research status both at home and abroad, the main idea and method, and the structure of the thesis.Part Two expatiates some concerned regional development theories, including the center-hinterland, the hinge-network, the spatial interaction and the regional integration.In the third part, the author analyzes the development condition of Lanzhou-Xining urban region, such as the location condition, the nature condition, the society condition and the new economic condition, and appraises its status quo objectively.In Part Four, the author analyses the macro -circumstance that Lanzhou-Xining urban region development, and orientates its industry and space. Believing that Lanzhou-Xining urban region is the base of water and electricity and industry, etc, the center of commerce and trade, goods flow, and corresponding center of finance and insurance, communication agency, tourism and service etc, which are all in Gansu -Qinghai section of the New Eurasian continental bridge; And the hinge region and important node of the west region ofChina, oil-gas corridor along Mid-Asian, China and Russia, and the petroleum process and chemical base of Xinjiang Uigur Autonomous region, the transportation center of processed oil of Qinghai-Tibet region and the southwest region.Part five of the thesis mainly concentrates on the adjustment of the industry structure. According to the guidance thought and principia, based on the comparative advantages of Lanzhou-Xining urban region, the way to adjust the Primary Industry, the Secondary Industry and the Tertiary Industry is discussed in detail.Part Six is about the spatial structure reshapement of Lanzhou-Xining urban region. This region should strengthen the mutual development between Lanzhou and Xining along the valley, foster Lanzhou metropolitan circle and Xining metropolitan circle breaching the natural obstruct, and create the hinge region of Gansu province, Qinghai province, Xinjiang Uigur Autonomous region and Tibet autonomous region.The seventh part puts forward some countermeasures and advice in the light of some problems existing in Lanzhou-Xining urban region. This region should integrate the economy, the society and the environment, innovate the cooperation pattern and administration mode of cross-region cooperation.In the last part, the author summarizes the main innovations and advances the problems awaiting further research and thought.
