Currently, people become more and more to attend to the importance of science & technology(S&T). Countries always regard the progress of science and technology as the fountain of economic development. Reviewing the course of economic development after the Reform & Opening of Guangdong province, we cannot say no to it that the conclusion, the science & technology is the first productivity force, has been fully embodied. The science & technology running system is a complicated system, in which there are intricate relationships between the input and output index, and in which there are two aspects, scale and efficiency. What about the scale is that how much S&T labor and capital are inputted in the system, and how much fruit we can get from the system; The efficiency reflects the output capacity of one unit of S&T input. The thesis does spread out discussion based on the above. To be convenient for research, firstly chapter one sets up the theory flat floor about the S&T running and economic development; Taking Guangdong province for instance, chapter two adopts two different methods to study the reflection degree of S&T to economic development; chapter three compares Guangdong province with other provinces in the S&T running system by methods of single index compare, data envelopment analysis and rank sum ratio etc. to try to get the information about the achievement and insufficiency in the system of Guangdong province; chapter four, bonding S&T system to economic development, will research the linear correlation between the index among the steps of S&T running system and its stimulating economic to rise up by path analysis, and employ simultaneous system model to discuss the response mode of S&T to economy; At last, chapter five, integrating the former analysis, exhibits many necessary ideas and advice.
