| This thesis's background is based on the research subject of the Liuzhou government of Guangxi province which is charged by the school of management of Tianjin University. In this subject the author mainly took part in the research of the competition potentiality evaluation of the traditional industries and the programming of the tourism industry.Yufeng district is one district of Liuzhou city, Guangxi zhuang Autonomous Region, which has good economic development basis and abundant tourism resources. Under the background of national Great West Development macro-strategy, Yufeng district is presented with the unprecedented developing opportunity. The local government in Yufeng district should grasp the current opportunity; draw up the regional strategic programming adapted to the new situation, and make good preparations for self-development. With regard to this work, based on the materials we gathered and the in-field investigation we conducted, guided by the Regional Economics, by means of scientific methods, we conducted in this article an overall analysis and evaluation on the traditional pillar industries, new tourism industry and their regional images respectively and came out with a comparatively detailed strategical target and programme.There are altogether five chapters in this thesis. The first chapter is mainly to expatiate on the significance of the regional strategic programming study for Yufeng district, and introduce the meaning of the regional strategic programming and the necessity for the study of Yufeng district's strategic programming under the circumstance of Great West Development. The second part is mainly to evaluate the competition potentiality of the traditional industries in Yufeng district, and put forward the developing strategy for the traditional industries according to the evaluating results. The third one is specially to study the tourism industry in Yufeng district. Herein the author evaluates the tourism environmental quality of Yufeng district and brings forward the strategic programming for tourism development. The fourth part is to introduce the conception and connotation of local images, then put forward the strategy plan regarding how to shape the regional images and create the good developing circumstance in Yufeng district. The fifth part is the conclusion section, in which the main studies of this thesis are summarized and the application prospects of the research method to other fields are introduced. The creative points of the thesis are summarized as follows:1,It is the first time to analyze the economic development situation of Yufeng district Liuzhou city thoroughly and systematically, Based on this ,the author evaluated the competition potentiality of the traditional pillar industries in Yufeng district by using the data envelopment analysis (DEA) method.2,The developing plan for the new pillar industry –tourism industry of Yufeng district is estimated. The tourism environmental quality of Yufeng district is evaluated, using the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method, and corresponding strategy is brought forward.3,In this thesis, the regional images of Yufeng district is defined for the first time, which will benefit the long-term development of the regional economics especially the tourism industry.
