At present, in world construction industry, it is a tendency to put into practice thegeneral contracting in engineering project. Among top 225 corporations of the world, most of them have the ability to carry out general contracting; many employers ofconstruction projects prefer adopting general contracting for bidding abroad, and Chinaalso enthusiastically develops general contracting; for the variety and complexity ofnew types of projects, changes of owners' requirements and the improvement ofcontractors' management level, a lot of new-typed management models appearconstantly. While each model has its own advantages and application area, it isimpossible and it should not replace one model for other ones. Therefore, with thedevelopment of world construction industry, we should improve the sense of generalcontracting and strengthen the studies on project management within the model. The general contracting in engineering project is a complex systematic engineering, and it involves engineering design, procurement and construction; scientificmanagement methods must be adopted to carry out overall macro-management andmicro-control and also it should begin with engineering design, purchasing andconstruction, strictly, for there are a lot of variable factors and risks. This dissertation starts from the micro-stages: design, procurement andconstruction and studies the process and characteristic of each stage; at the same time, ittries to analyze and control the management goals with the help of model andquantitative analysis method; focusing on the great risk in the model of generalcontracting; in the dissertation, a big part has been devoted to how contractors put intopractice risk management in the model of general contracting. First, the dissertation analyzes the design management in the model of generalcontracting, and proposes the application of concurrent engineering, which combinesdesign, purchasing, construction and other chains and brings into full play the advantageof their integration; then it emphasizes on purchasing management; to contractorsthemselves, purchasing should be incorporated into design procedures and innerintegration should be put into practice; to the exterior surrounding, the cooperationpartnership between contractors and suppliers should be established to achieve theirwin-win situation. Construction management is also the focus of management, and it is an important II重庆大学硕士学位论文 英文摘要means to realize project objects; the dissertation elaborates this point combined with theinternational mature and actual practices; and last it lays emphasis on the riskmanagement in the model of general contracting with the combination of "rainbow"series of contract document provisions which proposed by International Federation ofConsulting Engineers in 1999 to carry out risk identification, and applies AnalyticHierarchy Process to conduct risk assessment and proposes solution.
